Give each knit a role
A collection may combine single jersey for base layers, interlock for a more stable surface, rib for edges and sweatshirt fabric for heavier pieces. The structures should support the collection's designs and intended use, rather than being combined for variety alone.
Repeat a shared colour direction, finish or detail to help the garments feel related while allowing each fabric to perform a different function.
Check compatibility across materials
Compare fibre blend, weight, usable width, stretch and recovery, shrinkage, surface and colour. Different fabrics in one outfit may respond differently to washing, dyeing or finishing, which can affect fit and appearance.
Make samples or a coordinated test outfit where materials meet or are worn together. Confirm that the sewing methods, trims and care instructions work across the set.
Plan material use and production
Review marker efficiency, minimum quantities, colour availability, process sequence and delivery timing. A coordinated brief helps the manufacturer and sewing facility understand how the fabrics need to work together and what must be checked before the collection is approved.
